Our Doctors

Our team of doctors comprise two highly experienced vascular surgeons and a pioneering phlebologist.

  • Dr Nicole Organ

    Dr Nicole Organ is a Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon and is a  senior staff specialist surgeon at John Hunter Hospital with private practice at Lake Macquarie Private Hospital, Newcastle Private Hospital and Lingard Private Hospital. At John Hunter, she was the Director of Vascular Surgery for 5 years and  has been the Deputy Director of Surgical Services since 2015. She was a board member of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons Board of Vascular Surgery from 2014 to 2020. Dr Nicole Organ is a senior member of the Vascular One HealthCare team, providing consultation for vascular conditions and supervising vascular ultrasound services.  

    Dr Organ performs a wide range of operative vascular and minimally invasive endovascular procedures and participates in the national Australian Vascular Audit.

  • Dr Mathew Sebastian

    Dr Mathew Sebastian is a vascular surgeon with over 20 years of experience and expertise in the field following his training in the United States and Singapore. Since 2009, he has been working in Newcastle and the Hunter region. Mathew is a senior staff specialist vascular surgeon and Director of Vascular Ultrasound at John Hunter Hospital, as well as Training Supervisor in Vascular Surgery for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS). He also teaches and examines undergraduates from the University of Newcastle.

    Apart from his public appointment, Mathew is a visiting medical officer (VMO) at Lake Macquarie Private, Lingard Private and Newcastle Private hospitals. He consults at the Vascular One HealthCare rooms at Gateshead, Merewether and East Maitland.

    Mathew’s clinical interests are in the endovascular management of aortic aneurysms and dissections as well as endovascular interventions in limb salvage, particularly for infra-genicular and ‘diabetic foot’ disease.

  • Dr Naomi Hunter

    Dr Naomi Hunter is a leading phlebologist in the region, with close to 30 years of experience behind her. She graduated in medicine from the University of Newcastle in 1985. Following her years of internship and residency, she commenced general practice in Newcastle in 1988. In 1989, she commenced training in the field of Phlebology at the Cardiovascular Centre, Newcastle under the tutelage of Dr Alan Bray and Dr Paul Thibault, both prominent pioneers in this field.

    Dr Hunter runs her practice, Hunter Vein Clinic, out of the Vascular One HealthCare rooms at Toronto and East Maitland. She continues to take an active interest in the latest developments in phlebology treatment modalities.

  • Dr Senthil Kumar

    Senthil Kumar

    Senthil was born in India and completed his Medical school and surgical training in India . He then moved to England and undertook his higher surgical training and specialist training in Vascular surgery from Mersey region (Liverpool). During his training he did research in the field of Varicose veins and Vascular access in dialysis patients. Senthil spent twelve months at John Hunter Hospital undertaking endovascular fellowship at the end of which he was appointed as a consultant at John Hunter Hospital. Senthil has been a consultant vascular and Endovascular surgeon in Australia close to a decade and has high volume surgical experience. The family emigrated to Newcastle in 2013.

    Senthil loves spending time with his wife and two energetic children. In his reflective moments he enjoys cooking, Cricket , follow Liverpool FC and walking.
